Waterfront Botanical Gardens
The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana recently granted the Waterfront Botanical Gardens $10,000 for construction of The Graeser Family Education Center. The Education Center will include large, flexible space that can host activities and learning opportunities for community members and school groups.
Linda Speed, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana said, “We felt it was important to support the Botanical Gardens because they will have a tremendous impact on Southern Indiana and our residents. Not only will this project enhance our community’s quality of place, but will help our air quality and make public green space more accessible.”
The Waterfront Botanical Gardens are located near the intersection of Frankfort Avenue and River Road in Louisville, making it a short walk or bike ride from the Big 4 Bridge, and a wonderful, new and accessible garden and educational experience for all of Southern Indiana’s residents.
Waterfront Botanical Garden executive director, Kasey Maier, said, “The Southern Indiana and metro Louisville region is one community. With increased accessibility Southern Indiana residents will now enjoy an incredibly immersive experience which previously they would have had to travel almost two hours north to enjoy.”
