Community Foundation Awards $75,000 to Southern Indiana Recovery Complex
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – A new substance abuse recovery complex in Clarksville is getting a little help from the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana (CFSI).
Last month, CFSI awarded a $75,000 discretionary grant to Serenity House, a 48-bed transitional facility dedicated to helping men recover from substance abuse. These funds will allow the organization to complete construction of its new 10,000-square-foot support center, expanding critical services for men and women affected by addiction in Southern Indiana.
“We are committed to supporting initiatives that directly address the most pressing needs in our community, and this program provides increased access to substance abuse recovery resources,” said Linda Speed, CFSI President and CEO. “Addiction doesn’t care what you look like or how you were raised – it can happen to anyone. This recovery services venue is so important to our region because it will connect men and women to the vital support and resources needed to be successful.”
The Recovery Complex, which is located on Homestead Avenue in Clarksville, is a vital expansion of Serenity House’s existing efforts to provide structured support for those working to overcome addiction. The new facility will serve as a centralized hub for recovery services, including:
- Three large meeting rooms for 12-step programs
- A gymnasium for recreational activities and recovery events
- A commercial kitchen and lounge for sober social gatherings
- Trained staff to provide guidance and referrals to individuals in need.
The facility will offer these resources in a safe, supportive environment, contributing to the long-term success of recovery for its residents and the larger community. It is expected to open by early 2025.
“The generous matching grant from the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana helped us meet the $50,000 challenge put forward by the Bales Foundation, bringing us $125,000 closer to realizing the full vision of the Recovery Complex,” said Doug Scott, board member of the Serenity House. “This investment will strengthen recovery resources in our community, offering lasting support and hope to individuals and families as they rebuild their lives.”
