NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Four local nonprofit organizations were awarded more than $47,000 in funding through the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana’s (CFSI) Capacity Building and Community Assist grant programs, which empowers nonprofits serving Clark and Floyd counties by addressing operating needs and funding impactful projects. “Through our year-round grant cycles, we’ve witnessed the immense value of providing local organizations with timely access to funding,” said CFSI President and CEO Linda Speed. “This model allows our Foundation to fulfill its mission while supporting the unique goals of each organization. It also solidifies our leadership in the community, helping to improve the quality of life for all who call this region home.”
In addition to these quarterly grants, CFSI awarded an additional $10,000 to the Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana to support its White Flag Shelter, which provides life-saving refuge during extreme weather. Half of the grant – $5,000 – came from the Foundation’s unrestricted Community Impact Fund. The remaining $5,000 was contributed by an anonymous CFSI donor through their Donor Advised Fund, doubling the impact to $10,000.
“This partnership reflects the power of collaboration within our community,” Speed added. “By leveraging both our unrestricted funds and donor support, we’re able to address urgent needs while fostering a culture of giving that amplifies our impact.”
The Capacity Building and Community Assist Grant Programs accept applications throughout the year, allowing nonprofits to apply as their needs arise. Capacity Building grant requests range from $5,000 to $25,000, while Community Assist grants provide up to $5,000 in funding. Grant recipients are selected quarterly.
